Off-Season Training Sessions

Space Coast Dragon Boat Camp (Jim Farintosh)

Week one – April 9-15, Week two – April 16-22, Week three – April 23-29.
Camp Fees: (please pay in full when registering)
A single-person or small group fee is $430US per person or $490Cdn per person.

Groups of 10 or more is $410US per person or $470Cdn per person. If applying for the group discount,please remit the fees and registration forms together (can be one cheque, but each member must fill in aseparate registration form and sign the waiver statement).

 The OC option class (six one-hour classes, all OC) is $150US or $180Cdn. Space is limited to 12 perclass, first come, first served.

The Best Practices Coaching Course option will be five one hour classes and space may be limited to 20 people because of equipment constraints if some of the time is in the dragon boat (to be determined).The course will cost $135US or $165Cdn. It is expected that the coaching option will be offered at the same time as the OC option in the morning, so it will not be possible to do both.

Please note: Bow Wave DBC is acting as a collection agent and administrator for Space Coast Dragon Boat Club, so all cheques are to be made out to “Bow Wave DBC”. Americans please pay in US funds and Canadians in Cdn funds. Please pay for all camp fees (basic program and desired options) with one cheque.

The camp home will be at the Crown Plaza Hotel again this year, right on the ocean!  The hotel reservation process and necessary information will be included in the registration package.  However Club Members attending below will be staying off-site.  You can contact them for more information.

Ice Dragons Challenge


Event Schedule – at this point racing will begin at 1pm March 11th and conclude at 8pm. The course will be lit with fire pits placed along the way, it will make for a colorful racing experience. Food and Beverage opportunities are plentiful at The Forks as are washroom and “warm up” facilities. FMG anticipates six 200m two sled heats per hour with a marshaling call fifteen minutes prior to each heat, a detailed Race Schedule will be provided all Team Managers well in advance of the event. Delta Marriott Ice Dragon Village – Teams that are confirmed in Delta Marriott Ice Dragon Village will be assigned Village Spots in advance of the event, these spaces are alongside the race course, fire pits, tends and BBQ's are allowed subject to The Forks and local restrictions. Spaces are approximately 20’ X 20’.

Ice Dragon Toques – are free to the first ten teams to register and can be picked up at the FMG Ice Dragon Information on site.

Fundraising – There is no designated Charity for this event, teams can fundraise for whomever they want or not fundraise at all. 

Best “Lit Up Team” – as FMG Ice Dragon Challenge predominately occur in the evening a special award for the best Illuminated Team racing will be made. All illumination must be self-contained and within local codes, glow sticks, florescent strips, small battery powered lights are recommended not open flame or generators. 

Awards – Special FMG Ice Dragon Awards will be presented to the top three finshing teams in three Divisions. The first two heats are avaeraged placing the Ice Dragon Team into one of three Divisions then racing for final placement in that Division.
